• Dos narraciones relacionadas con la salud mental enviadas desde Torrevieja y Barcelona obtienen el segundo y el tercer premio

• El Departamento de Salud Alicante-Sant Joan d’Alacant espera consolidar el certamen en futuras ediciones en línea con la estrategia de la OMS de dar voz a los pacientes en su proceso asistencial

Sant Joan d’Alacant (06.10.23). Hoy se ha celebrado en el Hospital Universitario Sant Joan d’Alacant la entrega de premios del primer concurso nacional de relatos “Comparte tu historia… promoviendo confianza”, organizado por el Departamento de Salud Alicante-Sant Joan d’Alacant en colaboración con el proyecto europeo ‘Overgend’, de Fisabio, con motivo del Día Mundial de la Seguridad del Paciente que cada año promueve la OMS.

“La seguridad del paciente no es solo un concepto, sino una responsabilidad compartida. Este concurso, con su enfoque, invita a todos los actores del cuidado de la salud a reflexionar sobre cómo podemos mejorar y fortalecer nuestra colaboración para garantizar una asistencia sanitaria más segura”, ha señalado la directora territorial de Alicante de la Conselleria de Sanidad, Begoña Comendador Jiménez, en la inauguración del acto.

Junto a ella han estado el gerente del departamento de salud, Juan Antonio Marqués; el director médico de Atención Primaria, Alberto Asencio y la responsable del servicio de Medicina Preventiva, Teresa Gea.

El jurado internacional ha elegido ganador el relato “Amparo y Rocío», escrito por la fisioterapeuta María José Llácer. “No hay que tener miedo a moverse, el movimiento es vida, el ejercicio es para todos y para cualquier edad, los cuidadores en muchas ocasiones son excesivamente protectores y es lo que he querido reflejar en mi relato, si solo puedes mover los párpados, pues muévelos”, indica Llácer, quien ejerce su labor en el centro de salud de Benifaió, del departamento de La Ribera.

La narración “Estrellas en el mar”, en la que una enfermera narra cómo cuida de la seguridad y dignidad de un paciente oncológico terminal, ha obtenido el segundo premio. Su autora es la enfermera Aida Romero, quien trabaja en un centro de salud mental infanto-juvenil de la localidad barcelonesa de Sant Boi de Llobregat. “He sido testigo de muchos cuidados que tal vez deberían de haberse hecho de otra forma, poniendo en riesgo la seguridad y la calidad de los cuidados del paciente, creo que una parte esencial de nuestra profesión enfermera es el arte de cuidar y como apasionada de la literatura y el arte para mí fue muy enriquecedor poder llevar estas dos partes a un relato para expresar la necesidad del buen manejo del paciente”, indica.

El tercer premio ha recaído en el relato “Mirando al futuro en salud”, de la enfermera de Atención Primaria y Comunitaria del centro de salud de Rojales, del área de Torrevieja, Cristina Hernández. “El equipo de nuestro centro empezó el año pasado un proyecto de promoción de la salud mental que ha fomentado la comunicación intergeneracional y mejorado la calidad de vida tanto en adultos como en niños y adolescentes y eso es lo que he querido contar en mi historia”, señala.

Un reto compartido

En el transcurso del acto el catedrático de Salud Pública y Medicina Preventiva de la Universidad de Valencia, José María Martín Moreno ha expuesto su ponencia “La seguridad del paciente, un reto compartido”, centrada en la estrategia internacional de la OMS sobre la materia, que él conoce muy bien y en la que ha trabajado durante años.

La otra ponente ha sido Rocío Jadraque, médica especialista en Neuropediatría y escritora, quien ha dado un toque más literario en su intervención titulada “Entre palabras y latidos: narrativas médicas y seguridad del paciente».

“Las narraciones que nos han llegado son inspiradoras y nos sirven a los profesionales sanitarios para realizar nuestro trabajo de manera más eficiente y segura, desde nuestro departamento confiamos en afianzar este certamen y darle un mayor impulso en futuras ediciones en línea con la estrategia de la OMS y también de la Conselleria de Sanidad de poner al paciente en el centro de la atención sanitaria”, ha indicado el gerente del departamento, Juan Antonio Marqués, al clausurar el acto.

 

 

Ms. María José Llácer wins the first national patient safety contest with her story «Amparo and Rocío»

• Two narratives related to mental health sent from Barcelona and Torrevieja receive the second and third prizes

• The Alicante-Sant Joan d’Alacant Health Department hopes to establish the contest in future editions in line with the WHO’s strategy to give voice to patients in their care process

Sant Joan d’Alacant (06.10.23). Today, the award ceremony for the first national storytelling contest «Share your story… promoting trust» was held at the University Hospital Sant Joan d’Alacant, organized by the Alicante-Sant Joan d’Alacant Health Department in collaboration with the European project ‘Overgend‘ from Fisabio on the occasion of World Patient Safety Day, promoted every year by the WHO.

«Patient safety is not just a concept, but a shared responsibility. This contest, with its approach, invites all healthcare stakeholders to reflect on how we can improve and strengthen our collaboration to ensure safer healthcare,» noted Begoña Comendador Jiménez, the territorial director of Alicante in the Department of Health, during the event’s inauguration.

 

Alongside her were Juan Antonio Marqués, the health department manager; Alberto Asencio, the director of Primary Care; and Teresa Gea, the head of the Preventive Medicine service.

The international jury has chosen the story «Amparo and Rocío,» written by Ms. María José Llácer, as the winner. «You shouldn’t be afraid to move; movement is life, exercise is for everyone at any age. Caregivers are often overly protective, and that’s what I wanted to reflect in my story. If you can only move your eyelids, then move them,» says Llácer, who works at the Benifaió health center in the La Ribera department.

The narrative «Stars in the Sea,» in which a nurse narrates how she cares for the safety and dignity of a terminally ill oncology patient, received the second prize. Its author is Ms. Aida Romero, who works at a child and adolescent mental health center in the town of Sant Boi de Llobregat, Barcelona. «I have witnessed many care situations that could have been done differently, putting patient safety and care quality at risk. I believe that an essential part of our nursing profession is the art of caring, and as a literature and art enthusiast, it was very enriching for me to combine these two aspects into a story to express the need for proper patient management,» she explains.

The third prize went to the story «Looking to the Future in Health,» by Ms. Cristina Hernández from Torrevieja. «Our Rojales center’s team started a mental health promotion project last year, which has encouraged intergenerational communication and improved the quality of life for adults, children, and adolescents. That’s what I wanted to convey in my story,» she says.

 

A Shared Challenge

During the event, José María Martín Moreno, Professor of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at the University of Valencia, gave a presentation titled «Patient Safety, a Shared Challenge,» focused on the WHO’s international strategy on the subject, which he is well acquainted with and has worked on for years.

The other speaker was Rocío Jadraque, a specialist in Neuropediatrics and a writer, who added a more literary touch to her presentation titled «Between Words and Heartbeats: Medical Narratives and Patient Safety.»

«The narratives we’ve received are inspiring and serve us as healthcare professionals to perform our work more efficiently and safely. From our department, we trust in strengthening this contest and giving it a greater boost in future editions, aligning it with the WHO’s strategy and also the Health Department’s strategy to place the patient at the center of healthcare,» said the department’s manager, Juan Antonio Marqués, when concluding the event.
